We are pleased to announce that Wiggle will be the title event sponsors for all official CX Sportive events in 2015. The newly named Wiggle CX Sportive Series starts in the New Year with the Wiggle Chilterns Wildwood CX on January 25th. The first CX Sportive event, introduced back in 2011, the Wildwood now becomes the first CX event to be held under the Wiggle banner, and is now open for booking at cxsportive.com.
The sun is out, and the new season is nearly here – so you’re probably being inundated by good advice for how to improve your riding, fast-track all that training you should have been doing over the winter, climb better, recover faster and contort yourself into a super-efficient Bradley Wiggins-esque position on the bike. The cycling press is full of training advice, nutrition and diet advice, energy gel comparisons, gear ratio discussions, heart and power output monitor tests and a hundred other ways to turn your body into the ultimate pedalling machine. There’s so much to take in, you could almost forget to enjoy yourself while you’re riding.
This is an update for your journey to the Woodcote Wildwood CX tomorrow morning. Whitchurch Bridge is currently closed, meaning that you won’t be able to approach the event from the M4 junction 12 via Pangbourne and Whitchurch. if that was your planned route, you will need to find another way round. And if you are using sat-nav, double check to make sure that your system is not trying to send you that way.
We recommend approaching the event using the main roads, on the A4074 from Reading (south east) or Wallingford (north west).
Advanced entry to the Wildwood CX Sportive at Woodcote this Sunday (26th Jan) is now closed, but you can still enter on the day at event registration. On the day prices are £2 extra to advance booking prices.
Due to essential server maintenance, you may find that our online event entry forms are not available during the day today (Thurday 19th December). We apologise for this inconvenience, but expect all forms to be working again by this evening.
The Great Western Sportive has a new date for 2014, moving from it’s traditional June date to the 18th May. The Swindon based event takes riders through the beautiful Wiltshire Downs, and past a host of ancient monuments including Avebury’s standing stones, White Horse Hill and Blowingstone Hill. The route also winds through the sumptuous Lambourn Valley, home to many of the finest steeds and stables in the horse racing world.
Our first new season events are now open for booking! All of our old favourites are back for the 2013-14 season, and the Salisbury Saxon, Woodcote Wildwood and South Downs Sting are now open for entry.
